How it Works

When you open Share Setu, a unique Peer ID is generated for your device. This ID acts as a temporary address that other devices can use to find you. When two devices connect, they perform a "handshake" via our signaling server to exchange network information.

Once the handshake is complete, a WebRTC Data Channel is opened directly between the two devices. This is a secure, encrypted tunnel where data flows from one device to another without ever passing through our servers. This is why Share Setu is so fast and private.

To ensure reliability even with giant files, we break your files into tiny 16KB chunks. These chunks are sent across the P2P channel and reassembled by the receiving device. If a chunk is lost, it's automatically retransmitted, ensuring your data arrives perfectly every time.
